UAE
At deviate we help you transition through the complex process.
To become a registered nurse in Dubai, you need to follow the process set by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
Step 1: Ensure Eligibility
Before starting the registration process, make sure you meet the eligibility criteria:
- Nursing Education: You must have completed a recognized nursing program, such as a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Work Experience: Generally, a minimum of two years of clinical experience is required, though this can vary based on your qualifications.
- Language Proficiency: You may need to prove your proficiency in English through exams like IELTS or TOEFL, especially if English is not your first language.
Step 2: Create a DHA Account
- Visit the Sheryan Portal on the DHA website.
- Create an account by registering with your personal details.
Step 3: Primary Source Verification (Dataflow)
- After creating an account, you need to submit your documents for primary source verification through Dataflow, a service that DHA uses to verify the authenticity of your educational and professional credentials.
- Documents typically required include:
- Nursing degree or diploma certificates
- Transcript of records
- Valid nursing license from your home country
- Work experience certificates
- Passport copy
- Passport-size photo
- Pay the required fee for verification.
Step 4: Apply for the DHA Exam
- Once your documents are verified by Dataflow, apply for the DHA exam (Prometric exam) through the Sheryan Portal.
- The DHA exam assesses your theoretical and practical nursing knowledge. It is a multiple-choice exam, typically computer-based.
Step 5: Schedule and Pass the DHA Exam
- Schedule your exam through the Prometric website after receiving your eligibility ID.
- Prepare thoroughly and pass the DHA exam.
Step 6: Obtain Professional License
- If you pass the exam, you can apply for your professional license through the Sheryan Portal.
- You will need to pay the licensing fee.
- The DHA will issue your license, allowing you to legally work as a registered nurse in Dubai.
Step 7: Secure a Job
- With your DHA license in hand, you can apply for nursing positions in Dubai.
- Once you secure a job, your employer will help you with further formalities like visa processing and obtaining a work permit.
Step 8: Finalize Residency Visa and Work Permit
- Upon securing employment, your employer will sponsor your residency visa and work permit, allowing you to live and work in Dubai.
Step 9: Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
- Maintain your license by fulfilling the required CPD hours annually and renewing your license before it expires.
This process can take several months, depending on how quickly your documents are verified and how soon you pass the DHA exam.
